It’s been a long time since I wrote my last post, but this is another topic that tickled my interest, so i thought i’d share it with the world (as far as it’s reading my blog, that is
).
On the March 28, the WWF is again lauching their world-wide event for climate change, Earth Hour. You can find all the Info you need on their website.
I am also writing this post to contribute to One Billion Words. It is an initiative that tries to gather one billion words through blogs, twitter, e-mail and a site called EarthConnect, so theres plenty of possibility to participate. I will tag this post with ”vote earth” to show my support.
So switch of your lights on the 28th and blog, twitter, mail as much as you can to make this a great success!

Just today I registered on Jamendo, to see what all the fuss is about. There’s not much I can say really at this point, but the platform seems promising.
There are over 4000 albums already on and I figure the more people get to listening on Jamendo, the more artists will upload their music. So we will see how it develops
Today I also learned what trip-hop is (again on Jamendo).
Have fun!

I just upgraded my work laptop to Ubuntu Feisty Fawn, and switched from using apt-get to using aptitude since it is the recommended successor. Debian officials state that it handles conflicts better than apt-get did.
Some of my readers (which is I and… I for now) will know that APT has Super Cow powers =)
See the apt-get(8), sources.list(5) and apt.conf(5) manual
pages for more information and options.
This APT has Super Cow Powers.
So I was really stumped, when I first fired up aptitude –help and it told me:
This aptitude does not have Super Cow Powers.
So what does this mean me thinks? You get APT’s super cow powers by issuing apt-get moo:
$ apt-get moo

(oo)

….”Have you mooed today?”…
Telling aptitude to “moo” yields:
$ aptitude moo
There really are no Easter Eggs in this program.
But being a little more insistent bring you this:
$ aptitude -v moo
Didn’t I already tell you that there are no Easter Eggs in this program?
u719914@nathan [Z:2] { -> ~ }
$ aptitude -vv moo
Stop it!
u719914@nathan [Z:2] { -> ~ }
$ aptitude -vvv moo
Okay, okay, if I give you an Easter Egg, will you go away?
u719914@nathan [Z:2] { -> ~ }
$ aptitude -vvvv moo
All right, you win.

What is it? It’s an elephant being eaten by a snake, of course.
Have a nice weekend

You Are 52% Nerdy
|

You may be a bit surprised with this score, but your more of a closet nerd than an actual nerd.
Stop denying your inner nerd! You’re truly dorkier than you think.

How Nerdy Are You?
No comment =)

For all you people out there using gmail (and get your mail indexed, scanned, evaluated, ripped apart, put together again, and finally delivered), like I do (*g) there is an interesting page listing some “most wanted” Gmail features for us to vote on. Currently IMAP access leads the list (much as I expected). The link is. So go there and get your vote counted
(Only Gmail users can vote!)

Just recently I stumbled over a Firefox Extension that shows the user “Collactive Alerts” about climate change issues. Although I believe we have not succeeded in proving our impact on the (proved) ongoing warming of the planet we live on, I think it is our responsibility to act as if we knew we are the main cause for climate change (wow this really was a long sentence). And everyone can contribute to achieving the goal (which frankly is reduction of climate change).
So to to contribute my part I herby bring to your kind attention:

Please just check out the site and try to make up your own opinion about climate change and what we can do to turn around the current tendency, and make this planet worth living on for future generations.
(And of course recycle your waste, save electricity, don’t use your car more often than needed, etc. You know what I mean)

Today I stumbled upon a Slashdot Story where a guy named ‘Spocko’ got sued by Disney for telling their advertisers about the context their ads appear in. Mostly the comments of the radio hosts are racist and anti-muslim. Go check out Mike Stark’s blog to get the whole picture.
…
Ahh, and btw through reading this article I also learned how trackbacks work here.

Außerdem is jetz endlich die Strickliesl weg vom Fenster, also mein Wahlziel hab ich erreicht! Gewählt hab ich VdB weil ich auch in 15 Jahren noch frisches Wasser trinken und frische Luft schnaufen will *hehe Schau ma mal wie die Wahlkartenergebnisse sind (Moni ich zähl auf dich!).
